Fishing Log - Bluefish

We set out at about 5:30pm in search of a striper or two from Green Harbor. The tide was outgoing about 2 hours after high. We decided to fish the troll around Farnham rock (#6). Using a few deep divers (30+) we trolled the around the bell with a few other boats around doing the same. The sounder was showing a crazy amount of fish between 40 and 80 feet. We were not having any luck with the lures so we decided to float some mackerel down and drift through. I had a feeling we were soon to be disappointed and I was right – dogfish! The were thousands of them and when ever they are around that is all that you will catch if you are using bait. So back to trolling it is. Right at sundown we landed a good sized Bluefish but that is all that was to be found on this day.
