Shark sighting

We were pretty surprised when this shark headed straight for our boat and proceeded to go right under us. It was huge, at least as big as the boat (24ft) so I would guess it was a basking shark but I can’t be positive. Maybe you can tell by the photos. If someone knows please let me know :)

Big Shark...heading right at the boat!

that is defenitely a basking shark. you can see the unmistakable large gills that are associated with the basking shark. also the elongation of the nose points to it as a basking shark.

I think this is a basking shark because you can see how high the gills are up the the head off the shark they help to widen the mouth of the shark because it mainly feed on things like plankton and small fish, it also sounds the right lenght for a basking, these sharks cant harm you there just gentle giants. Were did you spot the shark?

That could very well be a Great White Shark. If the fin was swaying heavy back and forth it was a basking shark. If the sharks mouth was open very wide it was a basking shark. And if the shark was really 24 ft. long it would be by most accounts too large for a white shark. The straight fin, narrow head and color however remind me of a white shark.
