Accurate Conversion Kits for Penn Reels
Penn Senator 114H 6/0 and 113H 4/0 reels are probably the most popular conventional reels in the world. Whether you are trolling, casting large baits, or bottom fishing, these reels are the choice of serious saltwater anglers everywhere. Older Penn Senator reels did not have a frame, instead the side plates were joined together by cross bars. This design was flawed in that it was subject to warping when fighting large fish. I had several older Penn Senator reels that were in need of some TLC. Rather than replace the worn parts with factory parts I decided to upgrade. This is when I discovered Accurate conversion kits for Penn Reels, of course Accuframes and Accuplates have been around ten years or so I just didn’t know.
A full conversion kit includes, Accuplates (with bearings), an Accuframe, 4:1 ratio high speed stainless steel gears, rod clamp and handle. AccuPlates are sideplates that enhance your Penn reel’s performance, with improved bearings, tighter tolerances, better casting capability and freespool.
AccuFrames improve your reel’s strength, eliminates line eating between frame and sideplate, adds rigidity. The AccuFrame provides the most significant improvement you can make to improve your Penn’s performance.
These parts can be purchased separately if you can find them but be warned because they are no longer in production. I’ve had some luck on ebay and on Craig’s list but they are hard to find. These parts are also not cheap. A Penn 114 6/0 Accuframe alone can cost as much as $150 and the Accuplates (sideplates) can cost more. If you ask me these reel parts are worth every penny. The reels I’ve converted are more like Penn International reels than Senator Series reels. Good luck landing your Accurate conversion kit, topless Tiburon frame or yellowtail special conversion kit. Nice upgrades for any old Penn Senator reel.
