Lobsters Beware!
The season has officially begun. This morning I went out to lay down my first traps of the season. I took three lobster traps out with me. I wasn’t certain I’d be able to find enough bait the short amount of time I had but there were plenty of sea robins to be found around Farnham rock. Using a cod jig tipped with clams I was able to catch a half dozen in about 20 minutes drifting over the same spot bouncing the weight off the bottom I nabbed one on each pass. If I had more time I probably could have caught a bunch more. The weather was changing pretty fast so I only took what I needed for the Lobster traps I had with me. I had pretty good luck last year in 50ft of water about a mile off of the Brant Rock coastline so this is where the journey begins this year. Sea Robins have proven to be good bait in the past so I’m hoping to have a few lobsters when I return to pull them on Friday. Lobsters beware because it’s game on!
